The conservation and care of your humidor is very simple, you just have to keep the following in mind:

◼︎ Check and refill the humidifier regularly. The electronics warn with a sound or a led light, with the rest, we must check the water level often.
◼︎ Humidifiers should be checked with particular attention during colder months, when humidity levels are drier and the humidification system consumes more liquid.
◼︎ If you have humidifiers with sponge elements, they should be changed every year, two at the most, because there is a risk that germs and bacteria will accumulate on the sponges. The use of special fluids can delay this significantly. Therefore, it is important to check that the sponge can be changed.
◼︎ Always use distilled water to fill the humidifier. Also, we can use special antibacterial liquids for humidifiers. Otherwise, the humidifier will last us less, due to the lime deposits that form in the pores of the humidifier and the risk of germs is greater. If you use sponge humidifiers, we can improve the humidification capacity by adding propylene glycol to the humidifying liquid. However, we should not use propylene glycol in modern systems that use acrylic polymers.
2 | About Humidor Care As Furniture
◼︎ The loss of humidity when opening the humidor to take out a cigar is negligible. It should be kept in mind that Spanish cedar acts as a natural buffer and the water molecules inside the cigar take time to come out.
◼︎ Avoid placing your humidor near places with fire or
radiators, air conditioners or that remain exposed to the sun directly. Sunlight can not only change the color of the wood but could also modify the internal humidification of the humidor.
◼︎ In the daily care of the exterior of the furniture, we recommend
clean all wooden parts with a soft cloth (chamois)
moistened in a solution composed of 2/3 of water and 1/3
denatured ethyl alcohol for domestic use, not added
other detergent products or waxes (beeswax or synthetic) that
they tend to create a dull patina on treated surfaces.
